Dark Circle Erasers

One of the most common concerns of my patients is dark under eye circles. My goal for every patient is to feel comfortable going makeup free and this includes being being able to throw away the under eye concealer! The best treatment for this tough problem depends on the cause and your individual needs and often times, the best solution is a combination of treatments.

Under Eye Injectable Filler aka Tear Trough Filler:  We all have thin fat pads that sit under the eyes and as we age (usually when we hit about 30 years old), these fat pads start to melt away. This leaves us with sunken or hollowness under the eyes that can cause dark shadows. To correct this, I use a specific type of hyaluronic acid filler to replace the volume that’s been lost. This treatment shows immediate results, has minimal downtime, and results lasts between 9-12 months.

PRP for Dark Circles: The skin around the eyes is the thinnest in the body at just 0.5mm thick! This means that the skin is fairly translucent and so the underlying blood vessels can give a blue or purple hue to the skin, which makes the undereye area look darker than the surrounding skin.  Injection of Platelet Rich Plasma helps to stimulate collagen production and thicken the skin and erase the dark shadows under the eyes. This treatment has minimal downtime, no pain, and requires multiple sessions.

Peri-Ocular Peeling: Some people are genetically predisposed to developing hyperpigmentation around the eyes, where the eyelid skin is darker than the surrounding skin. The most effective treatment for this is a specialized peel that cause a light exfoliation to brighten and lighten the skin. This treatment has minimal downtime, no pain, and requires multiple sessions.
